IT TAKES A VILLAGE
Red Earth RISING is constructing a 'transitional' village outside of Kitgum, Uganda that will help support Acholi war refugees rebuild their lives in their native homeland. Currently, they live in a slum refugee camp outside Kampala. Once back home, these women can return to farming, raise their children with Acholi culture and language and reconnect with relatives who many have not seen or heard from in over 20 years. Through vocation trainings, lodging and access to farmland, Red Earth RISING works to empower the widows and orphans who have no family left, as well as those who do, create a new self sustainable life.
Much work has already been accomplished in the transitional village including several huts, community center, community kitchen, garden, and four latrines. These women and children now desperately need water (a well), farm implements, livestock, seedlings, trees, biogas stoves and solar power.
Village Life = Improved Health = Economic Growth = School Attendance
Please help us build a home for refugees who are currently living as foreigners in a slum refugee camp. With your help, these war refugees can begin life again reunited with long lost relatives and surrounded by the lush, open farmland where they were born. You can help these families raise their children in their native tongue, culture and near loving friends and family.
Your donation goes far:
$1000 helps purchase a biogas stove
$500 helps purchase a heifer
$250 helps pay for school fees and supplies for a child
$150 helps purchase a irrigation pump
$120 helps purchase a pig or goat
$20 helps purchase a flock of chicks
You can help transform these women and children's lives forever with your generous donation.
