ABOUT US
Why We Do This Work?
Ugandan women and girls face the highest rates of Sexual/Gender based Violence (S/GBV) in the world. (Ug. Nat'l Health System Household Survey (UNSHS, 2020))
Even among their Sub-Saharan neighbors, Ugandan women suffer almost twice the amount of sexual/gender-based violence (S/GBV). (WHO, 2021)
**Violence against Women is Endemic in Uganda**
Ninety-five (95%) of Ugandan women (ages-19-49) have experienced physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner. (UNSHS,2020)
The backbone of Red Earth Rising's mission is to prevent Sexual/Gender based Violence and give survivors services/skills to rebound.
Red Earth RISING is a non profit that believes in working with and beside women in developing countries to support their goal of rising above their poverty, illiteracy and abuse.
Our projects are chosen based on their efficacy, sensitivity to the local community as well as its sustainability.
Why northern Uganda?
Uganda is one of the poorest regions in the world.
But northern Uganda- where we work- is among the poorest regions of Uganda. Logistically, it is hard to work where we work. That is why people in this area have little to no access to national services or those services provided by the numerous NGO's (non-governmetal organizations) working in the more developed areas near Kampala.
Red Earth Rising is attempting to lift up the poorest of the poor, the women and girls of northern Uganda.
We believe that every woman, regardless where she lives, should live her life free from violence.
Red Earth RISING is a registered non profit corporation in the State of Oregon. (EIN #46-1309489)
